Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents, and Adults

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who sees clients of all ages and walks of life, but I particularly enjoy working with children, adolescents and their families. My specialization is the product of more than 20 years of experience, both as a former teacher, and as a therapist.

Childhood and adolescence should be wondrous times, full of play, experience, and learning. They can also be difficult and anxiety-provoking times, because of the stresses of school, friendships and disruptions in family life. Sometimes these stressors make it difficult for children and adolescents to make good judgments or to maintain emotional balance. My goal as a therapist is to help my clients find balance and restore the sense of joy that is inherent to being young.

My therapeutic orientation is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an approach that is practical and goal-oriented. It focuses on shifting one’s way of thinking about problems and situations, so that we can then shift our behavior when we confront them. Along with CBT, I use a therapeutic approach called Mindfulness, which teaches people to focus on the present, rather than dwell on the past or worry about the future. I also incorporate other techniques such as art therapy and play therapy.
